Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations for Sydney
Book or quote your job
Licensed Level 2 ASP · 24/7 across Sydney · Fixed-price quotes
Electric vehicle (EV) charging station installation is a Level 2 ASP electrical service covering supply upgrades, dedicated circuit runs, and compliant charger connections for homes, businesses, and apartment buildings across Sydney. If you're buying an EV or upgrading to a faster charger, call 0433 462 902 or book online to arrange an on-site assessment. The work involves checking your switchboard capacity, running a dedicated circuit to the charge point, and — where your existing consumer mains or metering equipment need upgrading — completing that work under our Ausgrid Level 2 ASP accreditation. Every installation is certified with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) and tagged to Australian standards before handover.
What's Involved
A typical home EV charger installation in Sydney includes:
- Site survey — confirming consumer mains rating, switchboard capacity, charger location, cable route, and any strata or building-management requirements
- Dedicated circuit from the switchboard to the charger location — 6 mm² copper for single-phase 7 kW, 10 mm² for 11 kW three-phase
- Type A or Type B RCD at the switchboard (Type A is sufficient for most chargers with built-in DC fault detection; Type B for chargers without it)
- Dedicated circuit breaker sized to the charger's rated load with allowance for continuous operation
- Charger mounting and commissioning — secured to weatherproofed bracket, network-connected if smart, tested at full rated load
- OCPP integration on smart chargers — connecting to apps like Tesla, Chargefox, JET
If your switchboard is full, we quote the switchboard upgrade in the same visit. If consumer mains need to go from 16 mm² to 25 mm², the Level 2 ASP component is included.
NSW Compliance
EV charger installation in NSW is governed by:
- AS/NZS 3000:2018 Wiring Rules — circuit sizing, RCD protection
- AS/NZS 3001.1 Electrical installations — Transportable structures and vehicles (mode 3 charging)
- AS/NZS 3001.2 — fixed charging equipment
- AS/NZS 4777.1 if the charger interacts with solar generation
Our credentials:
- NSW electrical contractor licence
- Level 2 ASP accreditation
- $20 million public liability insurance
Every EV charger we install is issued with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW). Smart chargers are tagged into the relevant app and commissioning report supplied.
Pricing Approach
EV charger installation pricing in Sydney varies with:
- Charger location relative to the switchboard — short straight runs (carport next to garage) are cheapest; long runs through ceiling cavities and external walls add cable and labour
- Whether switchboard work is required — many older boards need MCB/RCD additions or a full upgrade
- Whether consumer mains need uprating — this is the Level 2 ASP component and adds the network fee
Typical Sydney pricing (charger supplied separately):
- Simple single-phase 7 kW install, switchboard has space, cable run under 8 m: $580–$880
- Three-phase 11 kW install with new circuit, switchboard has space: $1,200–$1,800
- Install + switchboard upgrade + consumer mains uprate (older home): $3,400–$5,200
